I won a ribbon

I worked in the entering of antiques at the fair this year, so I got brave and entered my little handcrank sewing machine. Looky, Looky it won a blue ribbon and a champion. Now isn't that just awesome? I won $3.00 for the blue ribbon and I think $5.00 for the champion.
I also worked in entering canning and baking, then Wes and I helped in the judging the following day. We weren't judges but we got to sample some of the goodies. Yum. However when I weighed in the next day I was up. Go figure. It is really interesting to see all the things that are brought in.

Dad's great grandfather's riding duster. The tan one. I think it won a blue ribbon, but you can't see it.

Dennis James' cool rod

This is Dennis James' pride and joy and long, long time project. He entered it in the fair parade last Saturday. They brought it over to our house Friday night and washed it and then it spent the night with us. we kept it in the garage to keep it clean. He did an Indiana Jones theme. Notice the hat and Cory's snake in the back window. He won first place. Yea and contratulations, Dennis.

Twin Falls Temple

We went to the dedication of the Twin Falls Temple yesterday. Well we went to the satellite feed in our chapel. It was very good. The talks were all interesting. President Monson spoke about the barnacles on a ship. I remember that talk when he spoke at the Portland Temple dedication. Such a good analogy to keep the worldly salt water barnacles from weighing us down by attending the fresh waters of the temple. President Monson did look very tired however.
His wife was home ill but his daughter was there with him and spoke. She is in the general young women's presideny. Interesting story that the first counselor in the temple presidency told. His wife's grandfather went on a mission and baptized President Eyring's grandfather.
President and Sister Eyring were there, He was conducting and she spoke.

Salt Lake trip

Yes, I am totally gorgeous.

Brooklyn being sworn in as President.

Daddy has food and I don't. Not fair!

Fine, I'll take the ketchup.

Jeremy told us to stop at the Energy Solutions Arena to see the police/fireman patch collection of this boy with Cerebral Palsy. Firemen and policemen are his heroes so when he was 6 yrs. old he began collecting patches. He is 18 now. The Church mounted them on these panels for him and they are going on a tour. They are from all 50 states and some international countries. This is just a sample as they are on both sides of the panals. Very impressive! We came in on the end of the media ceremony. I know this picture is dark, but if I waited until I lightened it I would not get this blog done.

Wes liked this patch from West Allis, Wisconsin. Don't often see Allis spelled this way. Hmm, maybe some relative along the way founded it.

Cory with the patch from Blackfoot, This is the Idaho panel. Trust me the Blackfoot patch is there. Cory with Andy

Jen & Will

Thursday, Aug. 7, was Jenny and Will's wedding. Jenny was absolutely gorgeous. They were married at the church and then had a reception in her back yard. Everything went really great.
We wish them all the best. Jenny deserves it.

Kira was so cute in her pretty little dress. However in order to get picture of her I had to get at the swings.
